Estate Planning/Probate Attorney
Location: Sheffield Village Office
Practice Area: Estate Planning & Probate
Gembala, McLaughlin & Pecora Co., LPA is a multi-faceted law firm looking for a highly qualified attorney to assume the lead in the Estate Planning, Probate & Transactional department.
The role:
- Senior Associate for the Estate Planning, Probate & Transactional department which includes associate attorneys, paralegals, and secretarial staff.
- Partnership opportunity expected in 3-5 years depending on the candidate and their performance.
- Collaborate and reciprocate with the litigation and domestic relations departments.
- Be an active part of leadership within the firm.
- Participate in marketing strategies and efforts.
- It is preferred that the candidate possess some book of portable business.
The successful candidate should possess the following skills:
- Experience drafting wills, trusts (revocable, irrevocable, special needs), powers of attorney and advanced directives.
- Understand the income, estate and gift tax consequences of various planning choices.
- Handle commercial and residential real estate transactions, including purchase agreements, land installment contracts, leases, deeds and easements.
- Handle probate and trust administration issues.
- Independently manage assigned cases and docket.
- Work effectively with other firm attorneys and professional staff.
- Provide timely and professional communications to clients.
- Effectively pursue business development initiatives and client relationships.
Ideal candidate will possess the following qualifications:
- JD from an ABA accredited law school and excellent academic credentials.
- 5-7 years of Estate Planning and Probate Administration; some transactional experience preferred but not required.
- Understanding of courts probate procedures.
- Excellent written and oral communication skills.
- Attention to detail and willingness to take ownership of assigned tasks.
- Ability to multitask in a fast-paced environment.
- Strong organization, time management, and project management skills.
- Commitment to professionalism, collegiality, and teamwork, along with ability to work independently on various projects.
