Estate Planning/Probate Attorney

Location: Sheffield Village Office

Practice Area: Estate Planning & Probate

Gembala, McLaughlin & Pecora Co., LPA is a multi-faceted law firm looking for a highly qualified attorney to assume the lead in the Estate Planning, Probate & Transactional department.

The role:

  • Senior Associate for the Estate Planning, Probate & Transactional department which includes associate attorneys, paralegals, and secretarial staff.
  • Partnership opportunity expected in 3-5 years depending on the candidate and their performance.
  • Collaborate and reciprocate with the litigation and domestic relations departments.
  • Be an active part of leadership within the firm.
  • Participate in marketing strategies and efforts.
  • It is preferred that the candidate possess some book of portable business.

The successful candidate should possess the following skills:

  • Experience drafting wills, trusts (revocable, irrevocable, special needs), powers of attorney and advanced directives.
  • Understand the income, estate and gift tax consequences of various planning choices.
  • Handle commercial and residential real estate transactions, including purchase agreements, land installment contracts, leases, deeds and easements.
  • Handle probate and trust administration issues.
  • Independently manage assigned cases and docket.
  • Work effectively with other firm attorneys and professional staff.
  • Provide timely and professional communications to clients.
  • Effectively pursue business development initiatives and client relationships.

Ideal candidate will possess the following qualifications:

  • JD from an ABA accredited law school and excellent academic credentials.
  • 5-7 years of Estate Planning and Probate Administration; some transactional experience preferred but not required.
  • Understanding of courts probate procedures.
  • Excellent written and oral communication skills.
  • Attention to detail and willingness to take ownership of assigned tasks.
  • Ability to multitask in a fast-paced environment.
  • Strong organization, time management, and project management skills.
  • Commitment to professionalism, collegiality, and teamwork, along with ability to work independently on various projects.
